Mavala Stop-Nail Biting and Thumb Sucking Prevention, 10ml

Mavala Stop-Nail Biting and Thumb Sucking Prevention, 10ml Review. A transparent formula with a distinct bitter taste to discourage nail biting. Can be used by itself or over nail polish....

"Mavala Stop doesa wonderful job!" 2005-11-11
By blnkfrnk (Arcata, CA)

This product is amazing. I've been biting my nails for more than 15 years (I'm almost 22), and I managed to stop completely in three weeks.

Mainly, I had to become aware of what I was physically doing so I could stop doing it. Because of the horrible, bitter, lingering taste of Mavala Stop, I gradually became aware of what I was doing and could consciously think about my actions. It forced me to be conscious of my bad habit. Secondly, the nasty taste removed any enjoyment or stress relief I got from biting my nails since it was so incredibly unpleasant. I became very wary, very quickly. This combination of factors made it possible for me to stop, which I thought I could never do.

The taste is really horrible. It's like acetone (nail polish remover), bitter, rotten wood, and some sort of fish put together. It has a very chemical taste with a sweet undertone that makes for a horrible experience. The taste is also very durable and lingering. If you licked a nail painted with Mavala Stop, it would take a few minutes to get the taste out. The taste was so bad, in my opinion, that getting it off of my teeth, lips, and tongue when I slipped up stopped whatever I was doing or thinking about. It's very, very gross. Two coats of polish will last for more than one full week before rubbing off. It can help to freshen it up during the week to keep the taste at full unpleasantness.

It ruined finger foods for me during the time I used it. My fingers periodically touched my lips while I was eating, and the nasty taste would rub off slightly. This made me lick my lips a lot to remove the taste quicker-- it's easier to get it over with quickly than to try to avoid it on your lips--which made them lose moisture and chap badly. So you should also buy some lip balm at the same time. If you touch a nail with a fingertip, it will rub off there, too, and from there can transfer to coffee cups, pencils, hors d'oeuvres, etc. Wash your hands before you eat anything that might touch them.

There were no English directions packaged with the product. I don't think this is a problem, since the directions are pretty much obvious (Shake. Paint nails. Gag at taste) but it might be a concern for some people. A great deal of other languages were represented in the instruction pamphlet, including German, Portugese, Spanish, French, and a number of Asian languages.

Mavala Stop has a shine comparable to clear nail polish, but not as shiny as premium or ultra-shine clear nail polish. Your nails will probably not look natural, but if that's a concern, you could probably lie and say it's just a nice, buffed manicure. It could easily be worn over nail polish and would probably work like an extra protective topcoat. The shiny quality rubs out over time. At the end of a week it will be duller and more matte, but also less effective.

The bottle holds roughly the same amount as a regular bottle of nail polish, but Mavala Stop seems to be of a slightly thinner consistency. I recommend carrying the bottle with you in a pocket or purse so that if you must do something to your nails, it can at least be a touch-up. Washing your hands seems to dull it out more quickly, and removes some of the taste, but not all, by far. It does not wash out with water and soap, but the power is reduced.

The only reason you would fail with this product is if you can't bring yourself to enforce it. You have to make sure you put it on and touch it up. The temptation of not putting it on or letting it wear off quickly is certainly there. I would advise getting someone else involved who will scold you or remind you about it.

I would recommend this product to anyone. The price is worth it as it works very well. I am very pleased with the result.

"An amazing product for stopping thumbsucking !" 2005-11-06
By Nicole Church (New York, NY USA)

After months of encouraging/pestering our son to stop sucking his thumb (he is four), we finally decided to use a product to help. After doing some research, this one stood out as the most effective. Our son agreed that it was hard to stop on his own, and agreed to "extra help." The results are amazing. It has been 3 weeks, and he essentially stopped sucking after the first application. Now I think the urge/habit is really out of his system. We apply the product every 2 days, and plan to taper it off when it's been a little longer. One setback occurred when we had not applied it for 3 days (the bitter taste had dissipated), and he woke up and announced that he had sucked his thumb overnight. He seemed disappointed in himself for having sucked overnight and was initially resistant to reapplying the product. My recommendation is to be very regular in applying it during the crucial early phase when they need the most help. I am so glad we bought this product!!!!

 "Best ever!" 2006-03-30
By M. Wohl (APO, AE)

I have been biting my nails for as long as I can remember, and it seems like I have tried everything out there to help me quit-this product is the only thing that worked for me. I put it on my nails every 3 days or so. The taste is horrible, and lingers in your mouth for a while-it really discourages you from putting your fingers in your mouth. I recommend it to anyone who needs to stop biting their nails.

 "Worked for us!" 2006-03-09
By Joanne R. (San Francisco,CA)

My son has been sucking his thumb since he was in the womb (could see him doing it on the ultrasound!). Though it made him a great sleeper as a baby, now at 5 1/2 it was time to stop. Now he's losing his first tooth, the dentist told him he should stop too. Fortunately, my son is very taste sensitive, so he really did not want to suck w/ the Mavala on. Unfortunately, the first night he woke up screaming at 2am because he sucked and we had to deal w/ the rinsing and wiping his tongue off w/ a towel! He kicked his habit within 2 days, has not sucked in 4 weeks now! (BTW, we started putting a sock over his hand so he would not accidently suck at night time)

"My son stops biting his fingers after 1 day" 2007-01-21
By From Colorado (Colorado Springs, CO)

My 9 year old son bit all 10 of his finger nails to the point of bleeding for the last 7 years. I've tried other products and methods to no avail. He was very motivated to stop biting fingers because he was starting to notice the social stigma and of course, his fingers hurt! So, after a dicussion of how putting this MAVALA product on his fingers was just a reminder, not punishment, he agreed to give it a try. The first day, he had to brush his teeth 5 times because he bit his fingers forgetfully. The next day, and now almost 3 months later, he hadn't bitten his fingers once. We reward him for each time we clip all 10 of his finger nails to reinforce the good habit of not biting fingers. Just to be on the safe side, he is still applying the product on his nails every week, and we encourage that so he won't slip back to his bad habits. After all, he bit his fingers for most of his life!

 "PERFECT HAIR FOREVER!!" 2005-09-04
By Melaka Fray

I just bought a chi.. this chi to be exact. It's the goddess of all flat irons. I had a cheap Wal Mart hair iron. I used to have to wash my hair, take it into section, blow dry w/ a round brush THEN go over every piece of hair w/ my cra**y flat iron, again and again. And when I went outside, if it was rainy or humid, forget it, my hair would fuzz out all over again. I don't have curly curly hair more like really thick, frizzy, wavy sorta curly but not hair. Totally NOT cute. With the chi, my hair is super soft and looks like I was born with perfectly straight beautiful shiny hair. HA! Now I shower, towel dry and take the chii to it. It takes about 15 min. STAYS ALL DAY LONG and feels really great. I don't even need to use any anti frizz serum or anything like that. It is a bit pricey but worth every penny.

"It is great! and I'm not an expert doing my hair..." 2006-11-20
By Nenahq (Atlanta, GA)

I got it and couldn't wait to use it, so the first time I used it my hair looks great. People at work notice the difference. They thought I went to the Beauty Salon. There is a world of difference between a cheap one and THE CHI. Ok, so for the "no warranty issue", Amazon sells it for $94.00, other places sell it for $135.00. If you have a problem with it you can mail it along with $35.00 and they will fix or replace (per the website), so I took the risk, and anyway, the warranty is only for a year, so after that you have to pay the extra $35.00 if it breaks. Mine works great.

 "Excellent Product" 2008-01-18
By SereneNight (California, USA)

I have struggled to get the hang out of my cheap flat iron for my wedge/bob hairstlye. Well, struggle no more! this iron is awesome and fast. It beats the 'cheapies' hands down. I also like it because it is thin! I thought (in my ignorance) using a larger iron would be easier, but not so. Its much easier to use this one. Plus... It comes in a limited edition pink style if you like that sort of thing (which I do). I also love this iron because its really easy to curl the ends of your hair. Just twist and go.

Make sure to use some product to protect your hair and be careful with it! You can burn your ears, neck and hands -It's HOT!

 "Worth The Pain" 2005-04-24
By Kelly Thompson (Church Point, Louisiana)

I had been using a regular old Conair flat iron for about a year or two. While the flat iron worked well for me during the winter months when the Louisiana humidity wouldn't act up, I didn't bother to waste my time with it during the rest of the year because as soon as I'd step outside, my naturally curly hair would resort back to it's natural form.

Last year I was given the CHI model as a gift and let's just say that I "donated" the Conair model. I'm not the kind of person to follow with celebrity trends, but there is a reason why this flat iron is so popular with the "elite," if you will.

It takes up half the time my old Conair model did in heating up. Hell, I can get my hair done in less time with the Chi than it would take for my old flat iron to heat up! My hair is soft, shiny, and it doesn't look or feel like I'm putting it through a torture chamber.

I was raised to believe that it is rude to ask someone how much money they may have spent on a personal gift. My cousin owns a Chi flat iron and slipped the price one day during a conversation. While I am shocked that it cost that much money, I can only tell the fellow curly haired, humidity suffering people that this flat iron is worth every single penny!

Now my only complaint with the flat iron is the heat. I actually had to flat iron my hair with gloves on a few times because my hair would get so hot after running it through the flat iron. The blister on my fingers from the heat should be a warning to the accident prone, but when I walk out of the house in the morning and return home at night with my hair not in a curl frenzy, it's well worth it. I guess you could say pain is love.

This is the best flat iron ever!!! As an black female using this I can go longer without getting a perm. Every female should own one!!!!

Available in a variety of delicious flavors and textures, you can now have a delightful breakfast or snack all-in-one!...

 "Best of the bunch..." 2010-03-18
By R. Buggy (Tampa, FL)

This is my favorite Atkins bar of the bunch. Good levels of fiber and minimal 'net carbs' all while having a great taste. No chemical taste to this, taste is equivalent to carb loaded snacks. This will be my staple snack while on Atkins and I suggest you make it yours as well. I've tried most of the other flavors and this one seems the most appealing and gives you more a sensation of eating real food.

 "Love these bars" 2010-08-16
By C. Sanchez (Gilroy, CA)

This is my favorite of the DayBreak bars. I'm not an Atkins follower, but I am diabetic and these are a perfect breakfast for me. I can not find any other nutrition bar that has as much protein with low fat, low carbs, low sugar, low calories. Perfect!

 "Crunchy, delicious, chocolate flavor" 2010-06-05
By S.W.R.

These are really delicious. They have a crispy texture and a layer of dark chocolate on the bottom and some chocolate mini chips sprinkled on top. I have one most afternoons with a cup of decaf and it seems to keep me from eating everything in sight before dinner. Much better for me than sugar laden granola bars that make me hungry again in 30 mins. Amazon has a good price on these too.

 "My Favorite" 2010-08-21
By travelin granny

These are my favorite Atkins bars! I look forward to eating one for breakfast every day. It's like a treat the first thing in the morning. They fill my up and satisfy my sweet tooth at the same time.

 "Doggone Good" 2010-10-30
By Christina Dingrado (Olney, MD)

I hate diets for one main reason only, I can't have chocolate. Nothing sweet and tasty is ever in the menu for me. But I found a way to get around that with this really good bar. Most bar's are so gross and never give me the sweet satisfaction that I'm craving. These are so yummy, with the least amount of calories, and packed full with calcium and other good things.

Stop Snoring Mouth Piece - Anti Snore Device Sleep Apnea Cessation Aid

|

Stop Snoring Mouth Piece - Anti Snore Device Sleep Apnea Cessation Aid Review. Snore-Ex's anti snoring mouthpiece is an oral appliance also referred to as a Mandibular Advancement Device. The simple custom-fit mouthpiece positions and holds the jaw, opening airways for maximum airflow, thus reducing or eliminating snoring vibrations. More specifically, it provides a forward-positioning for the tongue, which is connected to the lower jaw. This increases airflow and minimizes the most common snoring cause - soft palette vibrations in the rear of the mouth. This is for adults only....

 "zzzzzz" 2010-01-14
By KAS (Boise, Idaho United States)

I have TMJ and a night retainer was recommended to help bring my bottom jaw forward in order to help with my TMJ and my snoring. Unfortunately this was not covered by our insurance.

I tried a mouth guard advertised on T.V., but it was very very uncomfortable and nothing but a hard piece of plastic. I've been shopping on Amazon for years and rely on product photo's and reviews and have never been lead astray! I searched for a mouth guard on Amazon and found Snore-Ex. The photo showed a before and after shot of molding the mouth guard. The product looked like it was made of a more plyable material, so I gave it a try!

Upon recieving the mouth guard I molded it as instructed and it molded to my mouth/teeth perfectly! Just like any mouth guard/retainers, it takes some getting used to. The first week, there was an increase of drooling...sorry to be gross, but gotta be honest...and I removed the mouth guard in the middle of the night because it just felt overwhelming. I continued to wear it because my husband said it was working! After a week or 2 the drooling stopped and it no longer feels overwhelming!

I love this product and highly recommend you give it a try over any other product being sold. I'm planning on buying at least 2 more so I'll never be without it!

 "Remarkable device" 2010-01-19
By N. Alex (San Diego,CA USA)

I was scheduled for surgery to relieve snoring, but decided to try this device on the off chance it might work. The instructions were extremely clear, and the device was comfortable from the first night. My wife reported that my snoring stopped immediately, and has not returned with continued use. Increased salivation is a minor problem, but I keep the device in without difficulty. I am also able to sleep through the night for the first time in years. I use it with the nasal spreader, which allows me to breath through my nose for the first time in years and is also very comfortable. For the cost, I think it is worth a try for any adult who meets the criteria for using it. I cancelled my surgery.

BTW, I am a physician.

"Works very well!! And details if this could work for you, too." 2010-02-18
By R. Gibson (WI, USA)

I thought this item was fairly easy to mold to my mouth, just like any other mouth guard used for sports. My mouth and jaw were sore for the first week or so, but the benefits for my wife(not waking up) and for myself (not waking myself up, or my wife kicking me) are worth it. It has greatly reduced my snoring.

A great way to help you decide if this will help you, is try to breath through your nose and try to make a snoring sound. Then try the same thing with your lower jaw pushed out just a little. If it seems easier to breath and the snoring sound is reduced I believe this should also work for you.

 "Finally Something that Worked!" 2010-01-12
By GAPSenior (Northern California, CA)

For the price, I thought what the heck I would give it a try. After two out-patient surgical procedures and trying to sleep on the funky pillow that is suppose to help, this was my last hope of something that would work. I am so glad I did because I do not snore with this device. When I get up in the morning my mouth does feel a little weird, but in order to sleep with my wife again, this device is well worth it.

"An inexpensive but effective device to prevent snoring" 2010-02-22
By WestieFan (Boston, MA United States)

This device works and works well. I recently bought a "stop snoring" pillow from Brookstone for $100, but it was only marginally effective. The Brookstone pillow only works when sleeping on your back. I bought the Snore-Ex device as a more portable alternative prior to taking a vacation with my wife.

The instructions for fitting the device were concise and accurate. I probably could have been more aggressive in biting down during the fitting, but the fit was sufficient to keep my jaw positioned forward just like "positioning your teeth to bite corn on the cob" (as it says in the directions).

There was some discomfort during the first few nights, but I found I could gradually increase the time from a few hours to wearing it overnight. Also, I have noticed that it has a training effect in that I now tend to sleep with my jaw forward, even when I am not wearing the Snore-Ex device.

I plan to order more, one to see if I can improve the fit and another for long term use. Both my wife and I really appreciate the results.

 "Best Deal Around!" 2007-12-24
By Diane (Western Maryland, USA)

I ran out before my insurance would cover a new supply. Locally, at every possible outlet--including the ultra-bargain places---the cost was significantly higher. The deal was also better than anything else I could find online. My only complaint is that it took longer to receive than I expected.

"As expected and on time" 2008-06-18
By MzzLizzy (PNW)

I received this product in a timely manner. It was exactly what I ordered and significantly less expensive than purchasing from the local pharmacy.

"Switch to this brand now!" 2008-07-18
By Mauricio (San Jose, Costa Rica)

I can't believe how I wasted so much time and money in other brands. This brand is outstanding! The meters are more reliable (I did my own study comparing this and other brands to lab results) and they have better support. Their website is really cool, with recipes, free ebooks, excersising guides and so many other things that I encourage you to visit it. I'm just delighted with my product. I have two meters of them and their software to download the information to the computer. It's great!

This lancets are very affordable and easy to handle.

Glycolic Acid 35% Gel Peel, 30ml (Professional)

|

Glycolic Acid 35% Gel Peel, 30ml (Professional) Review. Level 1) Glycolic/35, Lactic/35, Salicylic/20
Level 2) Glycolac/60, Lactic/50 - Twice as strong as L1
Level 3) Glycolic/50, Lactic/70, BHA+, HQ+ - Twice as strong as L2
Choosing a Peel:
Glycolic: stimulates collagen growth more effectively than any of the other peels. It's small molecule allows it to slip beneath the epidermis to reach the collagen fibers below and results in 15%-25% thickening over 12 weeks. Glycolic acid generally causes little or no visible peeling.
Lactic: works on the surface of the skin to treat tone, texture, and pigmentation. The Lactic acid molecule works to pull moisture into the cells, and exfoliate surface cells which helps to perfect the skin's surface and restore the skin's natural glow.
Glycolac: With a combination of Glycolic (25%) with Lactic (35%), it provides hydration and tone improvements of the Lactic, with the increased collagen stimulation of the glycolic. It is generally well tolerated because the lactic and glycolic work on different levels...

"This product is my Holy Grail" 2009-03-08
By Mrs Coltutt (SE US)

My skin and I haven't been on speaking terms for years. Horrible, brutal, stubborn, disfiguring cystic acne, so viciously tenacious that I had to go through...yes, count 'em...not one, but TWO rounds of Accutane to rid my self of it, and I STILL get a nice cyst on my back or chest every once in a while. I had pockmarks on top of pockmarks...forehead, cheeks, temples, chin, bridge of my nose even. I hate my skin, I really do. I've gone through 2 deep dermabrasions (through a plastic surgeon, not the micro kind), plus about 30 DEEP chemical peels. My scarring improved a lot.

But professional options get expensive, and taking weeks at a time off while my skin healed wasn't feasible. So I tried other methods to get rid of the rest of the scarring.

Over-the-counter products like Mederma didn't help. Then as I aged, I got grayish, blotchy, dull, oily-here-wrinkly-there skin to add to my scars.

Lovely.

I've used salicylic acid, makes my skin red and papery. I've used Mederma, nothing.

Sorry for the big lead in, but I wanted to give y'all a good idea of what I was already "facing" (sorry for the bad pun).

I saw this Skin Laboratories 35% Glycolic Acid peel advertised, decided it certainly couldn't hurt.

Bought it, received it very quickly, followed the easy-to-follow directions, love it. The lifeless, grayish appearance of my skin is gone. My smaller scars and pores are much diminished, after only 5 weeks of use, so much so that I can actually COUNT the number of scars I have left. (There were so many before, it was useless to count).

I will admit, I modified the instructions to fit my needs. I leave it on ten minutes at a time. Remember, I am a veteran of strong deep (EXPENSIVE) professional chemical peels, so my skin is quite tolerant to acid. I don't get a visible see-your-skin-flake-off "peel" from this product either (something a few of you have complained about), but that's so much the better! I don't have to miss work for a week at a time to let my skin heal, like with the strong chemical peels. But believe me, the skin cells ARE sloughing off and being replaced. You know how that 10 pounds just snuck up on you after the holidays, and you didn't notice? The skin rejuvenation you will get using this product is the same way: you don't notice it until it's done it's work.

I use this product once a week. After next week (my 6th), I'll wait a month before I go through the cycle again.

I'm also going to start using this product on my chest, which of course, is also scarred and weather-beaten.

Skin Laboratories, I Bow Before You. This is a superior product.

 "WOW... WOW.. WOW" 2008-06-11
By Emmly (Midwest)

I always tend to stay away from chemical peels because of the horror stories I hear and because I have fair, oily, acne prone skin.

I purchased the 35% peel just to try it; to see if I'm missing anything. I'm sorry I didn't have the guts to try it sooner. :o)

It is absolutely fantastic. I had a couple of breakouts I could not, for the life of me, get rid of. I put this on with a cotton ball, and I did wait the full 4 minutes; it tingled, but did not burn in any way. I washed it off and thought "okay, no miracles here". My face did feel smoother but that's about it.

The next two days I noticed quite the improvement. My chin cleared up and my face was, again, smoother, and more even and most importantly, no breakouts. I did not need to even put on powder (which I did not live without).

You do have to use a moisturizer after the peel. I did the first time, but because my face is oily, I didn't use one the second time. BIG mistake! My face was red and it still tingled 20 minutes after I rinsed off the peel.

As soon as I put moisturizer on, my face felt better and the redness went away.

This peel works wonders for me. I will keep on using it. It's definitely worth the money.

 "Glycolic Acid 35%" 2007-10-29
By Mish (Santa Monica, CA USA)

Have been using Natura Bisse Glycopeel for years and decided to give this a try. Definitely not as gentle as the Natura Bisse product, but equally effective if you don't mind a little faster peel and the accompanying redness (which goes away in a day or so). And, what a value compared to Department store product prices!! Will purchase again.

 "Great Peel- Low Price" 2008-02-20
By MD2008 (NY USA)

This product works great for me. I have mild, sometimes moderate, acne and noticed results right away with this peel. I use it before bedtime and wake up with softer skin- any blemishes that I might have that day appear reduced in the AM. It also seems to shrink pores/blackheads and styme oil production. I have also tried the 20% salicyclic acid peel which is more specific to acne treatment, but I find the glycolic peel works better for me. My suggestion is to try both. Of note, my skin is not particulary sensitive to chemical peels, so I didn't notice the irritation that the other reviewers mentioned. It does, however, appear to fade old scars and heal current blemishes more quickly.

 "works great" 2008-04-16
By Mel

I had some mild post inflammatory hyperpigmentation for which i was using a hyquinone fade cream and this peel has helped tremedously. I have used it about 3 times and have noticed a huge difference in my skins tone. it's almost perfectly even again. I would highly recommend this product, especially considering that the price is a fraction of what a spa would charge for a single peel.

Prevacid 24HR Caps 42-Count Review. Description: Prevacid 24 hr antacid Lansoprazole delayed-release capsules 15 mg acid reducer - 42 ea Manufacturer: NOVARTIS CONSUMER HEALTH....

"works great if you take the correct dosage" 2010-02-07
By R. Hansen (carmel new york)

prevacid does work well if you take the correct dosage. I took prevacid by prescription 30mgs and it work wonders on my reflux. Then I stopped taking it and it came back. Doctor put me on acipex, then my health insurance starting charging a 100 dolloar co pay. I started to take prevacid otc, but only took on pill 15mgs. the refux came back in a few days. I looked at the bottle and realized it was half of prescription strength and starting taking two pills. reflux improved after days and no problems since. its not unusual a drug that goes otc to have a lower dosage than when it was available by sript. so if it is not working for you, take two pills at once and you will be taking prescription strength dosage.

"Replacement for Prevacid solutabs, 15mg" 2010-03-23
By Deanna J. Espinoza (New Mexico, USA)

Our current prescription copay for the solutab form of Prevacid is $90 per month and insurance pays the rest. Our daughter needs to take Prevacid for acid control as she has GERD. She is 3 years of age now and takes the contents of one capsule twice daily with applesauce or pudding as a base. We save at least $30 per month by purchasing OTC Prevacid without insurance and avoiding the high cost of the solutabs. Our daughter's G.I. specialist gave the approval to switch to this medication form. I hope this information is helpful to other sufferers of GERD or caregivers of children/elderly with this condition.

 "A lifesaver!" 2010-03-12
By Sam Jones (Atlanta, Georgia)

I came down with GERD so badly that I couldn't eat without feeling like I was choking. I lost 40 lbs in a couple months. I took 60mg of prevacid daily and eventually recovered. Don't take too much for too long though, or abdominal pains may occur. I now take 30mg daily without side-effects.

 "Powerful pills" 2010-03-19
By Oleg K (Ohio, USA)

Effect of Prevacid is similar and much more powerful than Prilosec's.

My doctor prescribed me Prevacid some time ago, it worked. Now it's over the counter and I am glad I can buy it freely.

Of course, everybody's case is different. For me - this is the pills of choice for my gastric problem. It's definitely worth trying.

"Gold standard of Heartburn relief!" 2010-06-08
By J. Ingram (Tennessee)

I have been taking the prescription of this product for a few years now. I am glad I can buy it over the counter now. I works great on my heartburn. I must take two of them to equal one of my prescription but it is still much cheaper than buying it form the pharmacy. If you have heartburn don't wast your time on other products, just buy this one and be done with it. Prevacid is the gold standard for heartburn relief. Don't wast you money on the other stuff.
