Philips Norelco T980 Turbo Vacuum Trimmer Review.
"the T980 does not disappoint..." 2008-12-08
By Stephen Montagna (Madison, WI)
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R200U4HZR5AEEV I only review products that I use, enjoy, and want to advocate for; the T980 is one of these. It's got a great design, from the curve of the device body, to the ease and access of the On/Off controls, and swap-able blade heads. Its height-adjustable, spring-loaded trimmer guide is the best yet.
"A spectacular product my any measure!!!" 2007-02-03
By Patrick D. Goonan (Pleasanton, CA)
After a lot of comparison shopping and using various products over the last ten years, I finally decided to purchase the Norelco T980. I am delighted with my purchase and it exceeded my expectations in every way.
This unit is light, easy to operate, rechargeable and has precision blades that cut evenly. The extra attachment for fine detail works well and I don't get cut using it. The vacuum attachment works well even when it's not on Turbo and I personally think it's very quiet. It's unrealistic to think a mechanical device in this price range won't make any noise at all. If that's your expectation, you might want to use scissors. However, this product gets the job done much quicker and the sound is not annoying and unlikely to wake up someone else on the normal setting.
The flexible blade housing pivots smoothly and covered the contours of my face very well with an even cut at several different lengths. While it's difficult to get close to the nose because of the larger size of this unit, I don't see that as a big deal because with the smaller precision tool you can do this quite easily with a mustache comb if you are not much for completely manual operations. This little bit of extra work probably took me under 30 seconds.
Overall, the design of this unit is well thought out and it is quite attractive. The holding space for clippings is pretty big and unless you have a thick beard, you probably won't have to change it until after several uses. The battery also lasts about 30 minutes on Turbo and you can use the plug-in adapter after that if it runs out.
I don't see any drawbacks at all with this product. I'm completely delighted with my purchase and the value that I received for my investment.
"Philips Norelco T980 Turbo Vacuum Beard and Moustache Trimmer" 2007-01-25
By Brian (Kansas City)
I wonder if all these reviews are pertaining to this particular model, some reviews dont sound like my unit. I find no real problem with mine. Nothing is perfect. It is a bit bigger than my old small Wahl, but it has more features that require that. The vacumn works great, which alone makes my purchase of it worthwhile to me; in the past the sink always had a lot of nasty looking hairs all over it. Ive never had mine switch length setting on me, as some people describe, I dont see how it could. I think the adjustable length feature is really great, it accomodates about 'any' length beard, and eliminates all the extra little clip-on guides you have to keep track of. I gave up on trying to take the top off but it doesnt matter as there really is no need. I find no problem with excess noise, or with the turbo setting. Im very happy with mine. Also, this amazon price of $39.95 is $20 less than on the Norelco website, plus you get free shipping.
"Very Pleased" 2007-01-25
By J-Hog (San Francisco, CA)
I also wonder if some of the negative reviews are for this particular model (Philips Norelco T980 for $39.99 @ Amazon).
-Does not feel cheap at all.
-Settings click into place. They will change if you push it to the point where you think you would break it if you pushed any harder. I dont see why anyone would need to push it that hard. I had to test it after reading some of the reviews.
-Turbo does not seem too loud at all.
-Vacuum works very well.
"Awesome Trimmer" 2008-11-16
By K. Bates (Highland Park, IL, USA)
I was a little concerned after reading a few of the negative reviews. Nonetheless, I decided to go with this trimmer, it had a lot more positive reviews than negative and it was the most expensive trimmer on amazon at the time and I was looking for a high quality trimmer.
After a few uses I quickly realized why some of the negative reviews said the trimmer didn't trim. I recall one guy saying he was pressing super hard but it didn't trim any hair. So here's the scoop, the plastic guard/head if improperly seated on the top of the trimmer stands 1/2 - 1 inch higher than it should. Thus on virtually any setting, the trimmer part isn't touching your face. This is not a big deal, properly seating the guard on the device is pretty simple.
For me the battery on the trimmer has lasted about 25-35 trims of the my full beard. I don't use the turbo vacuum feature as I heard that it runs the batteries out quicker and it doesn't seem like it's needed anyway. I keep my beard pretty short and the vacuum under normal power does the job.
The device has 10 length settings and an extra trimming pieces to do clean-up type work. It doesn't make that much noise (when the turbo button is not on) and it is a very light device. I think the overall size of the device is "just right". It's feels comfortable using it and it's not overly large which would make for awkward use.
The only suggestion I'd have for Norelco is to beef up the friction on the length adjuster. While using the device a few times the length setting moved to a lower setting unintentionally.
All in all I am extremely satisfied with this trimmer. For not a lot of $ I feel like I bought the best trimmer that was available on the market.

Duracell Coppertop AA 20 Count Pack Review.
"Batteries, batteries, batteries!" 2010-03-31
By Sara Schmitt (New York, NY United States)
I got these about three weeks ago, and still haven't used them up yet. So many batteries. Awesome. So far, they've lasted about four times as long in my Canon digital point-and-shoot than my Energizer rechargeables. And they're on track to outperform the regular Energizers in my Xbox controllers. I think I'm a coppertop convert. The price is pretty good, too--probably not the absolute cheapest, but these are real Duracells (not knockoffs) that are far from their expiration date.
"Recent production batteries...not factory surplus apparently" 2010-04-22
By Chris L. Holmes (USA)
I'm pretty used to buying batteries online and finding they had been made long before I ordered them (had some CR123 with experations the next month from another vendor). In at least my case, my batteries from this vendor show a production date of 3/30/10...and I ordered them on April 18th. You can't get any younger batteries (exp is Mar2016). I'll be checking this distrbutor out for the rest of my battery needs.
"Duracell batteries at an Amazon price" 2010-05-25
By TheCommish16 (US)
If you check out local stores, you will find these are at least a bit below retail sales price for these batteries. Batteries will always be around the same price, but a few dollars off is worth getting them through Amazon!
"Good price" 2010-05-05
By M. Adams (Southern California)
At time of this review the price is a tad higher than buying at Lowes but less if you go subscribe and save. I like staying at home to buy stuff for less money :)
"Great Price for Great Product" 2010-07-10
By Maria (Miami, Florida)
I have done my own tests and found that Duracell lasts longer than other batteries i have tried.
Using the subscribe and save feature allows me to get the best deal on these reliable batteries.
This is especially important in Hurricane Season since I live in a weather prone area.
I recommend Duracell 100%

Omron HEM-780 Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor with ComFit Cuff Review.
"Best I've seen." 2006-03-21
By Steven P. Baughn MD (Yardley, PA)
As a primary care physician, I've seen a lot of BP monitors that my patients bring to the office to check for accuracy and other features. This one seems to be the best. The easy to apply cuff, auto inflation, its accuracy, the memory, the averaging feature, the AC converter all make it worth the slightly higher price over other Omrons, which I consider the most accurate brand. Since I too have high blood pressure, I decided to buy one myself!
"best of the omrons" 2006-01-03
By Allan (mahopac, ny United States)
I work for a major rx chain, have sold many of these models. This one is the best of the omron line. The cuff is awesome, easy to wrap around the arm. We sell this unit for 1oo bucks. I should have bought mine at amazon.
"Good Quaility Monitor" 2005-10-17
By Christopher F. Finney (Salisbury, NC and Mt. Pleasant, SC)
I haven't had the chance to conpare this unit to the readings at the doctors office (taking them at the same time). But I have taken readings at the drug store and then 5 min later taking it at home. It does seem to give true readings. They has never been any really off readings. No wild swings.
It is very easy to use and comes with good instructions and a nice carrying case. Makes it easy to take on vacation with you. AC adapter makes it where you don't have to worry about dead batteries.
"Great BP monitor" 2005-12-25
By Derek (New York, NY)
This is a great blood pressure monitor. The display is big and easy to read, it's quiet, and the ComFit cuff is comfortable. I also find the results to be consistent, and they match up very well with my old Omron monitor (HEM-712C). However, it's important to compare any BP monitor to a known measurement. This is my second HEM-780N2 -- the first one always returned measurements that were about 10-15 mm Hg too low. I exchanged it and the second one seems to be working accurately.
"Happy first-time user of blood-pressure monitor" 2006-06-15
By Reading Fan (Baltimore)
I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, but the doctor thought that I was really suffering from 'white coat syndrom', in which points are added to your pressure just being around a doctor. Then I went on Amazon, and found that it had a solid 5-star rating from over 60 customers and decided to buy it. The Amazon price, by the way, was excellent, at least compared with local pharmacy prices.
Bottom line is that it is easy to use, has a memory, keeps an average of the last three readings, and that was all I expected or wanted. (My blood pressure, thankfully, seems lower too.)
I did my review not looking at any other reviews or talking to anybody so I would not be influenced in any way. By the way, I'm amazed at the length of some of the reviews and will be sure to read them later after I write my review.
I do plan to take it with me to the doctor's office next time to make sure it agrees with his machine. I think that is a wise thing to do, though I have no reason to think there will be any variation.
(Follow-up on July 10, 2006: I did take my monitor to the doctor's office, and I'm glad to report that he confirmed that it was accurate compared to his monitor.)

Charmin Ultra Soft 9 Large Rolls, 143 2-Ply Sheets per Roll (Pack of 4) Review.

36 rolls of Charmin toilet paper, shipped, for $15.99 is an awesome deal. It's good toilet paper for cheap. What else is there to say?

"Love Charmin" 2010-02-21

"Charming Charming" 2009-12-30
By Bartok Kinski (Prague)
Whenever I travel below the equator, I stock up on toilet paper. I buy about 8 Large packs of it because I know I'll need it since I suffer from a registered complaint of bowel disruption. Eating raw fish or spices makes it worse.
Charmin Ultra Soft 9 Large Rolls are top of the line both in softness and price. This will last quite a while because you don't have to use so much since it's thick.
The only complaint I have is the offensive cartoon of a naked bear rubbing his [blank].

Braun Series 7- 790cc Pulsonic Shaver Review.
"probably the best foil shaver yet" 2007-07-20
By Thomas Pullen (USA)
so i bought one of these from amazon, very early adopter.
it is very similar in general to earlier clean and charge foil shavers from braun,
of which my last one was unceramoniously dumped in the garbage after a year for a rotary
from phillips, which was used for about another year and then dumped for the 4-blade gillette razor.
but now i'm back to trying electric for no particular reason other than it is tiresome buying
razor blade that have been specially engineered to need replacing after a week of use.
plus, while no matter what the manufacturers will tell you, there is no electric razor that
shaves as close as a blade, though sometimes the blade shaves a little too close...causing cuts, razor burn,
ingrown hairs, etc. it's enough to make a guy want to grow a beard.
enter the braun pulsonic. this is basically a very well-made, high end "activator" or "complete 360"
with the added feature that it vibrates. i suppose this is the same technology in the gillette "power" series
and other regular razors that use a AAA battery to vibrate as they shave...it does result in a ever-so-slightly
better shave. so this foil, which uses the nice almost-random pattern of differently-sized holes for diffent hairs (which was avail. only in germany for a long time, for some reason, then appeared in the u.s. with the braun 360) has a nice pivoting head, standard little pop-out trimmer, and vibrates like a sonicare toothbrush while you shave. the vibration is not really noticable over the regular noise and vibration present in a regular electric razor, but the results seem to speak for themselves. it seems to be a much gentler, more effective electric razor than i have used in a long time. the only thing is, it isn't a blade. after spending several passes with it over my cheek, for example, i can still run my hand against the growth and feel a little stubble there, which is never the case with the razor blade. on the other hand, i expect that over time there will be less shaving irritation, so it's not a bad trade off. the thing to note is that it's really made to be used with the little "charge and clean" cartridges, which according to braun last for 30 shaves, so each one lasts a month.
at $4 per cartridge, it's not too great an expense. word of warning though: if you take the razor out of the charger before it's finished the cleaning cycle (easy to do since much of it is silent, if you don't wait for the 'clean' light to come on) and sometimes even if you wait for it to be clean, and just start shaving, you may experience the unique and painful feeling of shaving with a small amount of rubbing alcohol on the razor foil.
i recommend making sure it's quite dry before use, shake it a little or blow on th foil or something.
the clean and charge flud is a lemon-scented alcohol and lubricant solution that you don't want touching newly-shaven skin.
overall, it seems to be a good investment. the razor is well-made for sure, very solid, with a rubber grip handle on the back that is pretty comfortable to hold. it moves very easily over the face, even with 3-day stubble, and is noticably more comfortable than other electrics i've used. i think it will take about 2 weeks for the skin/hair to get used to it again, but...good-bye razor blades! hello pulsonic!
"Just Incredible!!! A Must Buy!" 2007-10-22
By Randy Dorfman (Miami, Fl)
Ok here we go for my first and probably only review on Amazon. I am 50 years old and have tried pretty much every electric shaver known to mankind. Each time giving up due to the pinching, non close shave and pain in the butt cleaning. In the end, I was going back to razor blades and the frequent cuts. I went to Braun's website and read about this shaver and came to Amazon to see the reviews here. I decided after reading the reviews to splurge on another electric shaver.
What a find! This in my humble opinion is the greatest invention EVER! It's the first electric razor I've used which doesn't get hot after a couple minutes of use.Hot razor means sweaty face which trips up razor and adds to pinching. Braun recommends you shave before you shower or wash your face, while you still have a little protective barrier of oil on your skin. A big no-no with regular shaving, this worked well with the Pulsonic. They also recommend you shave against the grain. Again, not recommended for regular shaving. For electric shaving, works great.
I must say I Absolutely LOVE shaving now.(I would let my beard grow for days because I HATED shaving with razors and cutting myself). The Pulsonic is the closest shave ever by an electric razor(IMHO shaves as close as a razor once you master it) and more importantly it does not pinch or burn at all. Even better is the self cleaning which make life easier.
My wife laughs every morning as she now sees me shaving daily with this god send! if you are reading bad reviews on this product it must be I just don't get it.
Bottom line: BUY THIS NOW! I just ordered another one for my son!
I am telling all who read this if you hate shaving GET THIS PRODUCT you will love it.
"Took a Chance and Won" 2007-08-17
By Gene A. Garrison (Thibodaux, LA United States)
I was skeptical reading all the promotional material for this new shaver. I'm 54 years old and have been using a razor all my life. About a year ago, the razor started irritating my skin so I was forced to begin using a Norelco rotary electric shaver that I kept under the counter. The results were far from satisfactory but at least it didn't cause a rash on my face. I figured that was just the nature of electric shavers and was convinced that I would be living with a scratchy, stubbly beard the rest of my life. Then I read a review on this new Pulsonic shaver in the August 2007 issue of Popular Mechanics magazine. It sparked my interest so I researched it more on the internet. I finally decided to take a chance and purchase the highly acclaimed but expensive shaver.
I've been using it now for one month and am convinced that it is not possible for an electric shaver to work better than this one. I't leaves the Norelco rotary in the dust. I would say it shaves about 97% as close as a regular lather & razor shave. It does not leave stubbles and it isn't necessary to shave more than once a day. Yes, it takes a small investment to purchase this shaver but it is a quality item that you can live with for life.
The self-cleaning charger/holder requires replacement cleaning fluid cartriges periodically. The information I read says that a cartrige is good for about a month. However, the razor head can also be cleaned by rinsing it under hot water...which is what I do for two days and then run it through the complete cleaning cycle every third day. After a month doing this the original cartrige still says "FULL". I have purchased three more cartriges for $16. I think those will last me for a very long time.
I have nothing bad to say about this shaver after having recovered from the shock of the initial purchase price. You get what you pay for and you will certainly pay for this one. I don't regret spending the money for this shaver at all.
"Performs as Advertised" 2007-10-22
By M. A. Barker (WA, USA)
Although a bit steep in price, it performs as advertised. I have owned a 7000 series Braun and was getting fed up with the amount of times it took going over my chin, neck and area below the ear on the jawbone. This razor did an excellent job in a minimal amount of time with a close shave I haven't experienced in years. I highly recommend this shaver if you can handle the price.
"Does an excellent job" 2007-10-12
By Alan Wolff (Santa Fe, NM United States)
In the case of this shaver, the hype really does match reality. The shaver is by far the best electric I've ever used, and it's very nicely engineered--from the ergonomics of the shaving unit to the self-cleaning/lubricating mechanism that comes with the shaver. It's a bit pricey, but you get your money's worth out of this one.
----------------------
After nearly two years of using this shaver I can update my original review (above) as follow:
(1) Have replaced the head once, which is right on schedule
(2) I stil love the shaves I get from this shaver.
(3) The trimmer works, but will no longer stay closed (cheap mechanism here).
(4) I'm surprised by the number of people who try to save cleaning fluid by only cleaning the head once in a while. The fact is that you can get as many cleanings as you want until evaporation requires a new cartridge. By not cleaning, you're not saving anything.
Still give it 5-stars.

OxyElite Pro 90c Review.
"Believe the Hype!" 2010-03-07
By Cminnetta
This is the first time I have reviewed a product but this is also the first time I have been absolutely blown away by the results I've received. I've worked out regularly for 20 years. Three years ago, I amped it up by lifting heavier weights and incorporating a low-carb diet and as a result, I lost 20 pounds. My goal was to reach 145 (I'm a woman) but I hit a plateau and settled for maintaining a range of 151-154. I splurged some over the holidays and started the New Year at 159 but was sure I would be able to lose the extra weight quickly. Wrong! Even going back into weight loss mode with my diet, I struggled throughout January and February and was unable to get past 155.
I was on the verge of chalking it up to the effects of middle-age (I'm 45) and resigning myself to the higher weight when I read about Oxyelite Pro in Women's Fitness Rx magazine as a promising new product. I hit the net to do some additional research and was convinced by all the rave reviews on various fitness sites to give it a shot. I'd tried a few weight loss supplements here and there and they never lived up to their hype, but I felt like this product was worth a try.
I started it one week ago, and in ONE WEEK I have not only broken the 155 plateau, I have blown past the low end of my maintenance range. I lost 5 lbs in one week! 15 minutes after the first dose, I noticed a significant boost in my energy, not to mention an elevation of my mood that felt awesome, that continues throughout the day. I also have noticed a decrease in my appetite and cravings.
Now there is no free lunch, at least not completely. I do 45-60 mins of cardio, six days a week and weight train for 1 hr, three days a week, and I follow a low carb-low fat diet. The thing is, I was doing this BEFORE I started OEP and was not losing weight. With OEP, I am putting more energy into my cardio and I'm eating about 200 fewer calories per day because I'm snacking less, which is clearly helping, but I think most of the weight loss is due to the fat-burning action of the OEP. There is a visible reduction of fat in the "trouble" zones of my body that OEP targets, especially my abs and love handles.
Sorry for the long narrative but I hope it makes my point - I was not an easy case, my body was resisting my weight loss efforts but OEP did exactly what it said it would for me. Eight days ago I was thinking I would have to accept weighing more than wanted. Today, I am optimistic that with OEP I can actually reach my original goal weight of 145. It may not work for everyone, which seems clear from some of the negative reviews, but for anyone that has struggled to lose weight, especially if you've hit a plateau, I encourage you to give it a chance.
"Great product" 2010-01-27
By R. Guzman (NY, NY)
This thing has worked really well for me. I am now in the middle of my 4th week and have lost 10lbs overall. I usually take the recommended dosage of 2 pills in the morning and then 1 more 6 hours later. Combined with a rigorous workout routine, this product has no comparison to anything else I have had before. I must warn however that there will be slight insomnia, but that goes away after a few days and once you start seeing the results and feeling the energy this provides for your workouts, the side effects are minuscule compared to the benefits. I highly recommend this product to anyone who can tolerate stimulants. I suggest you start slowly (maybe 1 pill a day) and work yourself up slowly to the recommended dosage. Overall great product.
"Promising Supplement!" 2010-03-03
By Emily (Florida)
First off,let me say that I have tried many different diet supplements. This one triumphs them all! I had read numerous reviews on this product before purchasing it. As with any kind of weight loss pill, I was skeptical. However, I've been taking the Oxyelite Pro for about 2 weeks. Ive lost around 6 lbs. and have noticed a drastic improvement when I work out. I'm able to manage more strenuous workouts and have more energy to do them. Let me add that prior to starting these pills, I had problems with feeling hungry. It felt like I wanted to eat all the time and that I wasnt ever full! I dont get that feeling anymore. I take one pill in the morning and another about 6-8 hours later. I realize I could increase the dose and eventually might. In the meantime, it works at the amount im taking. I would most definitely recommend this product. It will give you the extra boost that you need to begin a diet/exercise plan.
"The real deal" 2010-04-06
By Robert Mack (Chicago)
I am an over fifty fitness fanatic and martial artist. I have tried EVERY major fat burner over the past 10 years. I have been disappointed with all of them ever since ephredra was taken off the market. Oxyelite Pro is the real deal. Using this product (along with lots of exercise and a good diet) helped me go from 16% to 14% body fat. No other product (since ephreda) has suppressed my appetite. This stuff works.
"Cutting Stubborn Fat" 2010-04-30
By Briann E. Castillo
I am an athletic person, hit the gym about an hour and a half to 2 hours daily at least 4 times a week. Nutrition is nothing new to me, the only problem i had is stubborn belly fat. This not only suppressed my appetite, but gave me the energy to pump through the work outs. I take jack3d but cycled off and this picked up heavier than jacked in my book. Oxy killed me the first day, as you can feel the thermogeneic working. Lately i stopped taking the morning pill and taking all three at once about 20 minutes before i work out. I do not suggest this unless cardiovascular wise you are a well trained athlete and can handle intense heart rates. Though this method does give you the best workout and you feel like a monster the entire time. BE CAREFUL and hydrate constantly! You will sweat a storm, and you need to replace the water! other than this, i can say i lost fat not weight. I stayed on my protein the whole time, and kept my strength. All i really saw was the cuts come in little by little but after the first bottle i was ripped. This is not a magic pill, and you need to bust your ass to get results, we all know this... BUT! if you take this it will enhance your workout and physique to a point of new highs you have never seen before. All in all, best fat burner there is that is legal!

Philips Norelco 7310 Men's Shaving System Review.
"Best Yet" 2009-07-07
By Richard L. Pohl (Omaha, NE)
I bought this razor to replace a 6 month old Architec. The architec was one of the poorest performing razors I have ever owned in over 40 years. So I bought this razor with very low expectations.
I was totally amazed by the 7310. It is so quiet the bathroom fan almost drowns it out, but the cut is AMAZING. I have had seven Norelco shavers so when I tried this unit, I couldn't believe it. I can shave in 30 seconds instead of the 7 minutes for the Architec. It is close, comfortable, no heavy pressing to get a close cut, and best of all is the price. The whole new shaver was cheaper than buying just the replacement head for the Architec. And the 7310 is EASY to clean. Flip the head, flush under running water for a few seconds, and let it dry. No static whisker cling like the Architec. I'd give it six stars if I could.
Thanks, Norelco
"Excellent low cost shaver" 2009-04-27
By R. K. Lam (Fullerton, CA USA)
After having this for 6 months and it being my first electric shaver, I am thoroughly impressed by it. I use to be a manual razor using Mach 3's and Quattro's but after trying this, its pretty much all I use daily unless I need a really close shave.
It feels like quality despite the price! Very solid and sturdy.
"Great Product!" 2009-06-30
By J. Vargas
I am actually a barber and i need to buy one of these a little more often than the average person that uses it for personal use. I only stay with the NORELCO brand tho. I like their products and they always last. This one from the gate gives a really smooth shave. I have been using it for 2 months straight, 5 days a week on people and the blades are still sharp. If it lasts me a year or two for my job, then it can last like up to 5 years for personal use. Definitely a good buy!
"Excellent Shaver, Great Price, Bit Ugly" 2009-11-29
By 21st Century Hermit (Colorado)
Pros:
Very close and comfortable shave
Excellent sideburn trimmer
Good battery life
Charge completed flashing LED's
Price is right if . . .
Cons:
No battery status indication, none expected
Tacky colors
I've been shaving for over forty years, mostly electric and mostly Norelco. For 3-months I had a Remington R450, see my review, huge dissapointment. Every couple of years Norelco tries to come up with a new gimmick to get us to purchase the latest and greatest. Thing is that Norelco got it right 30-years ago. The cutters and combs in the 7310 are the essence of that technology and if you can spin the cutters you'll have a close shave. All the other Whistles & Bells are just fluff.
Norelco claims 10 days of cordless shaving on a 8-hour charge. The charge full indicator started flashing at 2-hours, done. I went 9-days and wondered how much longer, on the tenth day the motor started slowing down and it quit halfway through the eleventh day. By stretching the battery after the first charge/discharge I was able to get 12-days, well actually 11.9-days, could have used another minute of shaving. I stretch a NiCd by running the battery dead with the cutters flipped open for the lowest motor load. Pretty impressive for a single AA NiCd battery.
People claim this is a good/great budget shaver. Nonsense, this is a excellent cordless shaver that can be had at a budget price. I got mine from the big W for thirty-one to my PO Box. It came in the full retail blister pack. By the time I got it to my house, 8500-feet, I thought it was going to explode. I saw at least two retailers have it for a bit less on Black Friday. Makes you wonder what the models that cost 4-5 times as much have to offer?
So why is it ugly? Well of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this old eye doesn't do black and white on a shaver, all black . . sure, all white . . probably not, all silver like my deceased 7865XL's . . YES!!! I still gave the 7310 5-stars, I don't see the colors while shaving. BTW, I do like the white power switch.
If you look at the photos I posted, you'll see that the 7310 consists of a small waterproof power module encased in four cosmetic shells. It's these shells that allow Norelco to play the silly color games at no additional cost. The sides even have rubber bonded to the shell. Turns out I shave with my thumb between the power switch and head and my fingers over the trimmer, so I don't even feel the "slip proof" rubber. Where are your fingers?
So if the feature set meets your needs, don't hesitate to get the 7310, it will deliver a comfortable close shave. As to the colors, only you can decide.
"Simple to Use and Shaves Great" 2009-09-03
By R. Kolin (Virginia Beach, VA USA)
I've been using this razor daily for about a month now. The first thing you will notice is how quiet it is, followed by the great shave it provides and finally how easy it is to clean up by just running it under hot water. While charging takes about 8 hours, it stays charged for a long, long time. Since the initial charge, I've only had to charge it twice. I was using a Braun Series 1 1-150 razor (see my review) and liked it. But I found that over time, it did not shave very well under my chin and on my neck, and it took a lot of time to fully do the job correctly. Not so with the Norelco! As with all electric razors, I recommend that you use a pre-electric shave lotion (I like Afta Pre-Shave) to make the shave easier and cause less razor burn.

Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, Delayed-Release Tablets - 42 ea Review.
"If you have acid reflux, you should try this." 2003-12-21
By Jim Turner (San Diego, CA USA)
This is one of the top money-making drugs of all time, and for good reason. It works. I used to have pretty bad acid reflux. I would chew Pepcid Complete (which is an antacid drug combined with a base to neutralize acid) after every meal, as if they were after-dinner mints. Now, I just take Prilosec once a day, and now I almost never suffer from heartburn, and when I do, it is not as bad as it used to be. Trust me on this. This drug works differently than Pepcid or Zantac (I have a Ph.D in biology), so if those drugs don't work for you, don't be afraid to give this a try.
"Prilosec (Omeprazole) Works - Period!" 2005-10-07
By James Koenig (Minnesota)
For those that suffer with frequent heartburn or have frequent instances of gastric reflux, Prilosec is a literal lifesaver.
Stomach acid is strong stuff (pH of 1), and belongs in the stomach, not in the esophagus, where it can cause burning of the esophageal lining (hertburn). If this happens frequently, the esophagus can be badly damaged. Gastro-esophageal Reflex Disease (GERD)can also cause severe erosive damage to the teeth if stomach acid is burped into the mouth frequently. The tooth enamel is literally eroded away, and teeth become very sensitive and permanently damaged.
To save your teeth and esophagus, Prilosec has come to the rescue. Prilosec is a former prescription product in a class of medicines called proton pump inhibitors. This means that the effect of Prilosec is to decrease stomach acid production. This is also beneficial for treatment of stomach ulcers, which need a minimal acid environment to heal.
Prilosec is taken once a day for 14 days in a typical course (thus, it is generally packaged in groups of 14 tablets). Most people have considerable relief beyond the 14 day course. It is not a product to take for immediate (within minutes) treatment of heartburn. The insert on the box states it takes at least a day to 4 days to reach its full effect. Each person will vary in terms of relief and how long the relief lasts.
Prilosec is a very good medicine for the treatment of GERD. It is in the same class as Prevacid, so if Prilosec gives you undesirable side effects, try Prevacid and the side effects may be lessened.

"A Lifesaver!" 2005-06-24
By Scott Pointon (Crest Hill, IL United States)
As my acid reflux worsened over the years, I made the usual progression from antacid tablets, to Pepcid AC, and eventually to prescription medications like Prevacid and Nexium. Prevacid works great but it still requires a prescription and Nexium caused side effects in me. Once Prilosec was offered over the counter I gave it a try and was very impressed. After a week or two of taking it every day, I was able to decrease the dosage to the point where I only take it as needed now. Once I feel heartburn starting, or I eat something guaranteed to give me heartburn, I just take one of these and its gone in about 30 minutes...and when I say gone I mean gone for 10-12 hours.
I highly recommend this product to anyone who suffers acid reflux or chronic heartburn.
"The only thing that works for me!" 2006-12-21
By Modern Blue Argonaut
I have been a Prilosec user for about four years now. In the past, I would do the 2 week recommended period, then stop for a couple of weeks, and continue that cycle. My acid reflux never got any better except on the days I took the Prilosec. The day I would stop it would be right back. Finally, I found out that most people take it as a maintenace medication, so I started taking it once a day without fail and my acid reflux was finally gone forever! I used to wake up all night long with severe esophageal pain, sometimes vomiting right in bed from all the acid. It was such a nightmare. I would end up taking a half bottle of tums which still wouldn't work, and sleep sitting up. I tried every over the counter medication out there with no relief at all until Prilosec. It truly is a miracle drug. For those of you out there with acid reflux, don't suffer any longer! Try this and give it about 3 days to start working, and you will be able to turn your sleep and your life around. Amazon often has specials such as spend $49 on groceries (this qualifies) and get $10 off your order. By all means, double up on Prilosec and do this.... I am now 2 years acid reflux free! It's not so bad, if I miss a day now, I don't suffer at all.
"The best treatment for major heartburn :-)" 2006-07-23
By Little Miss Cutey (Melbourne, Australia)
I use this in Australia under the name Losec. It's only available by prescription. However, one day while in the States, I needed a second pill (I usually take only one a day) and they were back in the room. I went to Ralphs and picked this up. It's identical and therefore works just as amazingly. If you really suffer from true heartburn and GERD, try over the counter medications first, and then if unsuccessful, see your physician and see what they have to say. This medication is a true lifesaver. I can't describe what the pain can be like if that acid begins to rise into your upper chest and throat. It kills, but this tames it and I cannot litterally live a comfortable life without it. Only take one a day (although admittedly depending on something you ate or whatever, you may need a second one later in the day). This is the best stuff around.

Philips Sonicare ProResults HX6013 Brush Head Standard 3pk Review.
"Refill for wonderful toothbrush" 2007-12-14
By Barely There (Central FL USA)
Amazon was best price and free shipping when I got them. Sam's Club did not even stock these (Dec 2007). I love the Sonicare Flexcare these go with. Be careful to order brush that fits your unit. The brushes are good for six months..3 months is just the recommended change date.
Philips Sonicare ProResults HX6013 Brush Head Standard 3pk go with 900 series sonicare flexcare toothbrush. Not good for Elite, or other ones.
"Ode to a compact brush" 2008-03-25
By Amanda Richards (Georgetown, Guyana)
I really love my Sonicare
But there was just one flaw
There were no extra compact heads
To fit my little jaw
According to the trusty guide
In 3 months you must change
So when I couldn't get a spare
I thought it rather strange
I had to use the standard head
To maintain my hygiene
I couldn't trust a worn-out brush
To keep my molars clean
The bigger brush just didn't fit
My mouth must be too small
Thank goodness they now stock this one
So I can reach them all
This smaller brush gets to the back
Back where it's hard to reach
It really helps me to avoid
My dentist's irate speech
This fits the Philips FlexCare brush
It's not for the Elite
So stock up now, in packs of three
And now this rhyme's complete

"A must for the Sonicare user" 2008-03-09
By Kona (Emerald City)
This is the replacement brush head to use with the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Rechargeable Sonic Toothbrush with Sanitizer. It's a snap to use (literally): Just pull off the old brush and push on the new one until it snaps and you're ready to enjoy your FlexCare. Phillips recommends a new brush head every three months. You'll know it's time to replace the brush when the old bristles start to spread out, but just to be sure, the replacements come with handy little month stickers that you can put on your charger base.
The FlexCare is a great toothbrush, and these replacement brushes will keep you and your dentist happy for nine months. At less than ten dollars each, they are well worth the price.
"Sonicare ProResults Rock" 2008-01-07
By Rob
These brush heads are vastly superior to Sonicare's Advance series:
I was amazed at how well the sculpted contoured bristles fit the curves of my gumline and teeth. I felt as if the brush head was custom made for my mouth. They also have a dark blue raised bristle tip at one end that gets right inside hard to reach areas.
Further, these are completely sealed units; so, they don't trap liquid inside like the Advance and probably the Elite. I don't own an Elite, but it looks like it could also trap liquid and toothpaste. I hated having to disassemble and clean out the Advance.
Finally, these brush heads only work with Sonicare's FlexCare series -- which is an amazingly light and manueverable brush handle, but that's another review!

This rechargeable toothbrush is one of the best that I have ever used. I love that it can be put into the dishwasher to be washed as needed. It has made my teeth SO much cleaner (no plaque), my gums are in much better shape and my teeth are whiter. It has a UV sanitizer that also comes with it!

Philips Sonicare Essence Power Toothbrush Review.
"Nice Product" 2005-11-04
By Robert P. Fredericks (Belleplain, NJ USA)
I have researched the Sonicare toothbrushes and found the best value to be this new model, I am very happy with it. I read all the reviews for the other models, held them in my hand at the Department store and found the only difference between this and the higher priced models is in the style of the handle and the fancy lights showing the remaining battery life. Also the Elite models have the beep every 30 seconds during the 2 minute timer. This model has all the features I need: Easy reach brush(Uses same replacement heads as the Elite models),2-minute timer. Since these things only last a couple of years anway, what's the sense of spending another $30 or more for features you don't need to clean your teeth. Buy this toothbrush and use the money you saved to buy replacement heads.
"Good Experience With Sonicare" 2006-03-25
By Todd Thorne (The Woodlands, TX United States)
The Sonicare Essence is my second Sonicare toothbrush. Previously, I used an Advance, which lasted about four and a half years. Prior to that, I had a different brand of electric brush. Some observations follow.
In general, any Sonicare would be a wise investment for you. No question, years of using it have saved me time and money at the dentist. By now you've seen from the other reviews how effective it is at cleaning your teeth. As I get older, I'm finding just how effective a job it also does at slowing my gum recession. I consider the sonic system superior over other brand's rotating mechanical approaches, which seemed to have more of an unpleasant taste and couldn't be used with just any brand or style of toothpaste, unlike the Sonicare.
The Essence and Elite models use the more slender heads versus the Advance. Slender is more comfortable as you maneuver the head around your mouth. Also, the slender heads tend to stay cleaner from build-up and residue, reducing the effort and need for periodic head cleaning. So far, I've found the slender heads to last as long as the Advance ones: about 6 months.
What about Essence versus Elite? Other reviews have summed it up. Sonicare (Philips, actually) segments Elite versus Essence by tossing in a couple of extra bells and whistles. I recommend that you seriously consider the Essence and put the dollars you save towards your first head replacements.
As far as usage goes, it's hard not to have an effective brushing technique with Sonicare. Place it against your teeth and gums at an angle and move it across the surfaces from one side of your mouth to the other. Be prepared for a moderately loud sonic tone in your skull, which can be a bit deceptive to others in the room with you because it's a much more muted noise to them (just in case they have the urge to speak to you while you brush). Yes, if you bump the brush plastic against your teeth, you'll get the rattle effect, which is a tad startling. With a little practice, that rarely happens unless you rush your brushing motions.
If you use a fluoride toothpaste and have a particular brushing pattern, say top-front at start, bottom-inside at finish, just reverse your pattern the additional times you brush each day. Why? To give the fluoride a chance to stay on your different teeth surfaces longer before you rinse it out.
Lastly, I make it a point to unplug my Sonicare between full charges and run it down to complete discharge. Even though rechargeable battery technology has reached the point where the "memory effect" we used to experience with the old Ni-Cad batteries isn't much of an issue anymore, I think this approach tends to keep the batteries conditioned and gets you a bit more mileage out of your brush handle. The sacrifice you make with this approach is that last brushing as the batteries drain to empty will likely be incomplete. So trot out the old manual standby to finish and then plug in the Sonicare to charge up. With my new Essence, I find I can go about a week this way, brushing twice a day.
I consider Sonicare one of those appliances that's a great investment and which will pay you dividends over the long haul. Highly recommended.
Update Summer 2008:
Over 2 years of use on this appliance and my satisfaction level remains high. Regarding head replacements, I do want to add one observation. If you go 6 months like I do before swapping heads, the firmness of the new head will feel especially pronounced, perhaps to the point of causing gum tenderness. In that case, back off the hand pressure you apply, and in about a week, your gums should acclimate. Enjoy!
Update #2, Spring 2010:
Over 4 years of regular use and my Sonicare Essence still performs quite well. I can't go nearly as long between charges now, down to about half a week, but I've adapted to the battery's diminishing ability to hold a charge. Being a devoted user, I find I really miss the Sonicare on the occasions where I don't have it with me. This is definitely the kind of appliance that sets a standard for what you come to expect and want, thus any other experience tends to pale in comparison.
For readers in Europe and other countries that have 220V electrical systems, note that the Essence 5300 has a charger that is for use only on 110-120V / 50-60Hz systems. If you get the Essence technical spec from the Philips web site, it confirms this restriction. One possible option may be the Sonicare model called "HealthyWhite," which can be found on European Philips sites and which contains a multi-voltage charger. I don't have any experience with that particular model though, so definitely research it further before you purchase.
"Make your mouth happy with gentle & deep cleaning everyday at home!" 2006-05-18
By Kristina Diy
After our $30 Oral-B AdvancePower 950 TX, Model D9535 died (after only 2 months of use!), we wanted to make sure that our next powered toothbrush would be of higher quality. So my husband heavily researched all current powered toothbrush models and brands and the end result was our purchasing the Sonicare Essence 5300.
This toothbrush is absolutely AMAZING! It deeply cleans your teeth & stimulates your gums so very gently and leaves your mouth feeling like it was just professionally cleaned everytime!! It is such a pleasure to use, that my husband and I have both found that we brush twice as long! The 2 minute timer will shut off the toothbrush, but we will turn it back on and end up brushing until it goes off again.
We opted to get a model without the Quad timer, but I can see how it would be useful, as it would notify you when to go to a new section of your mouth! It is also fairly quiet when operating compared to the Oral-B model we were using.
The overall design of the toothbrush, base and brushhead holder is simple, minimal and clean and does not clutter up your counter too much. The brushhead holder holds 2 replacement heads and works perfectly for couples. Sonicare also color codes their replacement heads, so that when you buy a pack, one will have a grey ring and one a blue ring, so they can be used by 2 different people. Very convenient and helpful!
This toothbrush will leave your mouth very happy and healthy and is definitely worth the money!
"Can it really be worth the money? Yes!" 2006-05-09
By N. Henderson (Minneapolis MN, USA)
I bought one of these on the recommendation of my dentist. I was rather skeptical, but he was so enthusiastic that it seemed worth a try. I'm glad I did! These 'sonic' toothbrushes get your teeth far cleaner than I ever managed with a manual toothbrush; it's almost like getting a professional cleaning. There are some odd things about it: You need to turn it on after putting it in your mouth to prevent the 'sonic' action from spraying water or toothpaste all over, and if you touch the hard plastic part of the brush end against a tooth there's a vibration/sound that's rather startling the first time it happens. But, you get used to it quickly enough. The way the brush works (by vibrating instead of you physically pushing it against your teeth and gums) also seems to be quite gentle on my gums.
The price is a little steep, but it really is a great product. The engineering is rather fascinating; there are no electrical or other connections (it recharges through an electromagnetic field instead of a wire) and the brush head itself actually works like a tuning fork, vibrating from ultrasonic sound produced by a device in the handle.
This is one of the best purchases I've ever made; I only wish I'd gotten one years ago.
"Takes my dental care to a new level" 2006-03-10
By F. A. Parks (Portland, OR United States)
My dental hygienist recommended one of the new generation of electric toothbrushes to help my personal situation, which involves deep pockets between the teeth and gums. I had already had oral surgery for these years ago, a miserable experience that I never want to go through again. Since my oral care routines aren't all that they should be (such as regular flossing) I decided to give this a try. The Sonicare Essence was less expensive than some other models that mostly include frills that I could live without.
Using this initially provides strange sensations that I got used to fairly easy. I didn't like the feeling of the shaft of the brush rattling against my teeth but have learned to mostly avoid that contact. The slender handle/body is easy to hold and maneuver. As with most other models it shuts off after two minutes, to encourage one to take enough time to do an adequate job assuming that you let it run for the full cycle. I should mention that I do a gentle Water Pic flushing beforehand to wash away trapped particles, so I believe my final results are skewed a bit. The fine vibrations of the Essence alone may not be too effective at clearing particles stuck between teeth. That said, the sonic action certainly should be highly effective for my intended target: the tooth/gum interface which is so critical. Gingivitis patients should not hesitate to buy this toothbrush; the cost is nothing compared to the benefits. The replacement brush heads are supposed to last 6 months, and considering the cost (I think something like $10-12 ea.) I would certainly hope they can last that long.
Summing up, I probably wouldn't have bought this or any other model if I hadn't been advised to do so but now wish I'd had it a long time ago. Haven't had it even 2 month but I can feel the difference it has already made and am looking forward to positive feedback at my next dental checkup.
